Momentary Zine WorkshopSaturday, 10 NOV
3 PM – 6:30 PM, Mezanin
Hackers & Designers pres. Momentary Zine Workshop at Automata 2018
During the Publishing Karaoke workshop we will experiment with possibilities of co-producing a publication instantly – utilising an interactive publishing tool. How does it work? You speak. It prints! With the help of speech to text technology the tool translates spoken word to text. Simultaneously an algorithm runs an automated image search, querying the spoken words and adding the images accordingly. The outcome: A printed publication!
Bring your curiosity to automated editorial processes and DIY zine production!
The immediacy of the voice as the main content generator and the possibility of starting a dialogue with the technology serve as vehicle for participation – enabling conversations about unusual publishing methods and the (im)possibilities of automation processes.
You can just walk in anytime during the day and join the workshop!
Hackers & Designers is an initiative that brings two professions closer to each other in order to develop a common vocabulary and collective design concepts. Since the first H&D meet-ups in 2013, H&D has developed an extensive network of designers, artists, software developers, researchers, scientists, and theoreticians. Traditionally Hackers & Designers activities consist of hands-on short workshops and deal with topics such as web technologies, Peer 2 Peer networks, crypto currencies, typography, conditional design, printmaking, and simple hardware constructions. Each year Hackers & Designers is developing a unique Summer Academy in collaboration with internationally renowned tutors, studios, researchers, and individuals working in design, art, and technology.
